The Criss Studio is a Chef Duo with unique cultural and culinary backgrounds. Jahmarley Grant, with a Jamaican background, grew up in the USA and Canada. Mateusz A Żurek, with his Polish upbringing, was raised in a family with strong German roots. Together, we draw from a diverse collection of tastes shaped by our cultural interpretations, with inspirations ranging from Japanese, French, Polish, Jamaican, and even Nordic influences.
The essence of Criss Studio is personality — taste over technique, meaning over flowers, culture over clichés like limiting yourself to luxurious produce only.
We love our food heritage and use our cooking talents to highlight the beauty and elegance of some of our favourite traditional flavours. You will taste a collection of dishes both original and traditionally inspired, crafted to combine our cultures in a way that heightens your senses and curiosity. We invite you to our version of Polish-Jamaican fusion, always with respect for the local terroir.
Before moving to Hamburg in June 2024, we spent a few years in Lisbon, where we ran two restaurants — one casual and one fine-dining. After half a year of pop-up dinners in Hamburg, we opened our permanent restaurant at the beginning of 2025. With this new home, we also launched the Art Residency at Criss Studio, inviting emerging artists to transform our dining room with each new season.

Tasting Menu
Our menu features 70% plant-based dishes, with the remaining 30% including meat or fish. We strive to offer the highest quality products and design our menus to be as sustainable as possible.
Additionally, our menu is friendly for non-meat eaters; if you choose a vegetarian dietary restriction, our tasting menu will be tailored to include only vegetarian dishes.
We’ve been working together as a culinary collective since 2018 and desire for our Guests to explore ways of eating and drinking in a mindful and creative environment.
We aim to work with the best ingredients available and do our very best to create THE LEAST WASTE POSSIBLE.
